Tooth Extractions Near You

Tooth extractions are not ideal. Our dentists will always try to preserve your natural tooth. However, in some cases, when no other dental treatment is viable, a tooth extraction is the only option. Typically, we recommend tooth extractions because they will help improve your oral health. If you would like to learn more about receiving tooth extractions near you, please contact us.

When Are Tooth Extractions Necessary?

Our dentist will recommend a tooth extraction when your tooth is beyond repair, and no procedure can salvage your tooth. For example, when a tooth is severely decayed, and a root canal cannot save it, an extraction is the only option. An extraction will prevent the decay from spreading further and damaging your gums and adjacent teeth. Our dentist will recommend receiving a tooth extraction in the following situations:

  • Teeth that have been excessively decayed
  • Extra teeth that’s causing overcrowding or misalignment
  • Teeth that are damaged
  • To make room for orthodontic treatment
  • Wisdom teeth that are impacted or grown at an angle

The Process of Receiving Tooth Extractions

We provide simple tooth extractions in Red Deer. A simple extraction is performed on teeth that are visible in your mouth. We will provide local anesthesia. However, if you are anxious and would like sedation, please inform our staff prior to your procedure. Our dentist will then use tools to push and pull your tooth to remove it. During this process, you will feel pressure but no pain.

The Recovery Process

After your tooth extraction, we recommend resting and taking it easy for the rest of the day. You will experience some swelling and discomfort in the first few days. If the extraction areas are bleeding, bite down on a gauze. However, if the bleeding persists after the first few days, please contact us immediately. We will provide thorough after-care instructions. Please be sure to follow them to ensure a quick and smooth recovery.

To avoid dislodging the blood clots, please do not spit, suck on a straw, or vigorously rinse. We recommend gently rinsing with warm salt water the day after the extraction to keep your mouth clean. We also recommend eating soft foods for the first few days. If you have any questions, feel free to contact us.
